In 2020, I worked as a COVID ICU nurse from March to September. This album is inspired by that experience.

Explanation of titles:

Of Milk and Mud is a reference to our two selves, Milk referring to our souls or energy and Mud to our physical, carbon-based bodies. The idea behind Of Milk and Mud is to transport you to the bedside of a person that has had a cardiac arrest and simulate what the body of that person might experience and what the caregivers may feel.

30:2 is the ratio of chest compressions to breaths given during ACLS protocol for resuscitation of a cardiac arrest patient. This composition is intended to bring you into the environment of alarms, shocks, breaths and hectic noises during a rescue attempt.

Metempsychosis is intended to be the moment the light goes out…when a rescue has failed. The soul leaves the body .

Pallor Mortis is the first stage of death of the physical body as the biological processes cease, the heart no longer pushes blood through the capillary bed and the body turns white.

Final Disposition is final placement of the body and the surrounding ceremony, prayers, rituals and meditations for the lost.
